Sanity Day
The fact is that when I am at these little gatherings I get only a fraction done of what I would normally get done during one of Avery's naps when I am all alone. Most of my time is spent chatting, comparing craft stories, meeting new people, and really this is all fine with me. With Avery's changing behavior, and by this I mean her stubbornness and need to do things without me, I find that I am more easily frustrated. This gets even more pronounced if we have to spend day after day with just each other. A chance to gather with a bunch of other kids around her age is a huge break for the both of us.
So this is what our gatherings are for me now: a break from the norm to preserve my sanity. I get a little work done, I get great input on projects, and I get a huge break from keeping Avery out of trouble in my little house. Hooray!

Long Overdue
What is overdue exactly? Maybe proof that she is walking now since that has been the case for about a month. Or just the fact that she IS walking full-time now. It sure felt like it took her a long time. Perhaps it is the fact that she can put her hair in pig-tails, finally. Maybe it is just that I have not posted a video in so long showing what a big girl she has become. I just feel like the whole this is long overdue.
I think that I should mention that Avery walking for real is all due to Jennifer. She sent us one of those monkey backpack things that doubles as a leash for parents with toddlers on-the-go. We were so sad that we didn't need it yet because Avery was refusing to walk in public. She would do it at home if we pressed her, but that was about it. I guess she was too shy. Anyway, one night Joe put it on her just to see if she would wear it when she WAS walking all the time. As soon as she was buckled in she started laughing and she picked up the leash end herself, putting it around her own wrist. She then too herself for a walk, walking laps between her room and the living room for the next 30 minutes. That was it. From that moment on she was a full-time walker. So, thanks Jenn! We should have strapped that thing on sooner.

Murdered!
Before the night was over I, or Angel Wood, was murdered. The suspect list was not a short one as it seemed that I had betrayed, blackmailed, or duped every person at the party. Sinister me. In the end it turned out that I was killed by a former boy-band icon hoping to make a come-back. Apparently the schedule for my next movie was conflicting with his reunion tour plans.
While there was good fun, good food, and lots of good acting, Nathan came away with the "Best Actor" award for the night. It was a total blast.
