Jenn's Skirt

I know I said I was going to start making stuff for myself, but it has not happened just yet. This, sadly, is for my sister and not for me. Hence the sad face. I thought that a long skirt was not something I was interested in. Then I tried it on to be sure that it was laying correctly and that I hadn't messed the hem or anything, and then I didn't want to take it off. I wish it was mine.

Geese

I am afraid of geese. Not like I am afraid of spiders, but still, they are scary. They are mean and loud and they will steal food right out of your hands and they are REALLY territorial sometimes. But for some reason Joe and I still took Avery to Papago Park to see them. I think I was hoping for more ducks, but Avery was attracted to the big ones. She was not as afraid of them as she should be but luckily there were no incidents. She just stared a lot and pointed at them. If she got to close they would raise their wings and I think she got the hint. Another fun-for-Avery-stressful-for-mommy experience.

Quilts

I have learned something in the last week. If I have made you a quilt it is because I REALLY love you because I REALLY do not love making quilts. They remind me how very new I am to sewing.

To Do List

For my birthday I got gift cards to Joann's. This is just about the most perfect present for me right now. Minus of course the absolutely perfect rotary cutter and mat that Joe bought me. I decided that I needed to buy stuff for me this time. I have made a lot of stuff for other people, which I am totally happy to do, but I wanted something for myself. I pretty skirt, maybe a dress or a purse. So I went crazy.

I still followed the rule that has been set up for me; I only bought fabric for specific projects. There was no haphazard buying done. I have a pattern or a plan for everything I purchased. So I sat down with my fabric and made a list of things I need to make based on the fabric that I have. Oh, my. It is a little long. I'm feeling a little stressed. I guess the only thing to do is get started on number one and make my way down the list. It does include projects and fabric that I already had waiting before my birthday, but my birthday fabric covers about half of the list. Hopefully in few weeks I will have a couple new skirts, new dresses, new shorts, and a new blouse.
I should mention that this is all possible only because of my dad. In January he bought me an early birthday present; my sewing machine. I feel like I got my money's worth out of it in the first month, but I am still going strong with project after project.

Overwhelmed

I feel busy. I feel like blogging is a chore and not something fun to do. I feel like I only have a couple of hours a day, literally 2 or 3, where I can sit down and either sew, craft, blog and read blogs, check and respond to emails, read a book, fold laundry, or eat. I have to be honest, eating and sewing usually win. Sorry.

New Moon Party

Let me say now, I DO NOT LIKE the Twilight movies. I know that this can be hotly debated, but you cannot make me think that Robert Pattinson is good looking or that Kristin Stewart is a good actress. That being said, I had a New Moon party. I did not see the movie in theaters. I had no desire. But, it was my birthday, it was actually the night of a real new moon, and our friends, the Moore's, like to mock bad movies just as much as Joe and I so we all got together for some cake and some laughter.
I can't tell you all the ways that I love a Costco cake. I could eat that vanilla cheesecake creamy filling with a spoon! Every good party should begin with cake. So we visited for a while and then we put the girls down to bed. I think they had fun feeling like it was a slumber party.
Once the kiddos were down we started the movie. I gotta tell you, I was not disappointed. But keep in mind that my expectations were REALLY low. I think the reason I didn't hate this one as much as the first was because of Taylor Lautner. In the books I may prefer Edward, but in the movies I am DEFINITELY team Jacob.

Utah!

I have tried posting twice and my computer keeps wiggin' out on me so it better work this time or I am quitting blogging all together.
Utah was great! The weather was pretty, the company fabulous, and Avery LOVED being around her cousins. There were some firsts on this trip as well. Avery got to "hold" a baby for the first time. The whole reason we went was for her new cousin Amira's blessing and so Avery got to get up close and personal with her. She kept giving her kisses and wanted to hold Amira the whole night. That, or she wanted Melissa to hold her all night. Luckily Melissa did not mind.

Avery also went bowling for the first time. I don't have any great pictures because she was WAY more interested in the candy machine than she was in the actual bowling.

Unfortunately my dad could not make it to Utah this trip. He fell ill just before they were supposed to leave to they had to cancel. My brother Ben was thoughtful enough to make a video for him so he could see what he missed and when Avery was on film I told her to blow Grandpa kisses. I tell her to do this quite a bit hoping that she will just magically do it one day. Well, she did. Never before had she showed any inkling that she even knew what blowing kisses was, but on film for Grandpa she blew like 5. It was awesome!

We of course spent lots of time at Jenn's playing with the cousins and eating good food. We had a joint Birthday celebration on Sunday and has amazing fondue. Again, I got no pictures. Honestly, where is my brain? The weather was so pretty the whole time we were there I was shocked to look outside the morning we flew out and see snow! We escaped just in time.

Crib for baby?

Avery got a baby doll for Easter. She carries it around all day and loves to cuddle it and pretend that she is feeding it. I made a little crib out of a box and I found her like this ten minutes later:

At least she is sharing it with the doll.

Easter

Avery took to hunting eggs like a duck to water.
