My Corner

There is really only one good thing about Nathan going back to Utah; I get his old desk and so now I have a sewing corner. I thought that this would be great! I have a place to put all of my stuff that isn't Avery's closet so I won't have to disturb her when I want to get something to work on. It is also nice that I can put stuff up and away where Avery won't be tempted by it all of the time since it is on the third floor now and that is not a place we spend a lot of time in our day. Yes, it is a nice theory.
In the time it took my to print up some mailers for work and check my e-mail, I found that Avery had done this to my little corner:
Right.

Already

Yes, you are seeing this right. Avery is wearing my 4 inch heels. She pulled them out of my closet and put them on herself. They have just enough flat area at the front to fit her little foot. I kid you not, she walked all over the house in them for 10 minutes without tripping up. What's this on the floor? A ball? Let me just bend down and pick it up because I so can handle these shoes. She blows my mind, this girl!

Swimming

Oh, how Avery loves the pool. The rental has a heated pool and so we have been spending much of our spare time enjoying the water. At first Avery did not really seem that excited about the whole thing. She wanted to be held, she wanted out after 5 minutes. It was odd to me. Then Jennifer taught her how to blow bubbles, the cousins starting doing awesome jumps, and she figures out how to jump into the pool from the ledge. Suddenly there is no better place to her than the pool.

She not only will jump off the edge of the pool now, but she seeks out higher ground so that she can jump from as high as her mother will let her. I think she would have jumped off the 4 foot wall like the big kids if I let her. Se is already such a daredevil. Now when we walk past our community pool she runs over and bangs on the gate crying for a chance to get in. Poor thing. I let her splash her legs in the water just to show her that it was too cold to swim in, but she didn't seem to care!

Kristy

Avery can't get enough Kristy. Kristy is her aunt who lives in Utah and whom she sees only a couple of times a year. This does not matter. If Kristy is around then Avery wants to be held by her. David, my brother and Kristy's husband, spent 10 minutes with Avery as soon as he got here trying to get her to warm up to him. This was fruitless and she would have nothing to do with him. Kristy walks into the room, says "Hi, everyone!" and Avery walks straight to her and wants to be held. No warming up, no enticing, just a strong desire to be where Kristy is. From what I understand it is not just Avery who feels this way. Apparently Kristy has this affect on almost all of the children she meets. It's like her super-power! Playing in the pool together!

Valentine's Skirt

I mentioned before that I was going to make a Valentine's skirt for Avery out of the leftover polka dot fabric. Well, I did and it is super cute. Again, it is one of those things you are just going to have to wait and see since I don't have a photo to post just yet. When family is in town there is always a camera going, you just don;t know if it is yours and then you have to track down all of the photos that were NOT taken with your camera. Fun.

Family in Town

My family is here to visit! Okay, not all of them, but enough of them to get me super excited. They are renting a house out in Chandler and I am planning on spending every second I can with my parents and siblings. Hooray for family vacations!

Over Committing

I heard a couple of weeks ago that my sister-in-law Kristy feels that she is not afraid of commitment. Her problem is that when she is faced with something new she OVER commits. I feel this has happened with me and hair bows. My friend, Chantee, taught me how to make hair bows at one of our Sanity Days. Since then I have made more than 2 dozen bows. I have officially gone nuts.

They are just so easy to make! I can't get over how all you need is a good 18 inches of ribbon, a cheap clip, some hot glue, ten minutes and WHAM! you have a bow! They are literally addicting to make. Avery has one in her hair almost every single day now. She both loves and hates them. When she is feeling cute and happy she will wear one forever. When she is mad at me or tired then the first thing she does is rip it out and throw it at me. Just one more thing to argue over.

The Quilt

I made my first quilt! It is only baby sized but I love it and think that it is beautiful. I made it for my sister-in-law Melissa so I wanted it to be on the glam side more than the baby side. I'm so proud of it I could scream.
