On track

I mentioned previously that in order to finish all of my projects by our move date, August 11th, I need to complete 3 projects a week. I'm so happy to report that I am on track! This week I finished my blue dress, which really is a last week project, and I am wearing it to church this very day. I also made Avery the strawberry blouse and denim shorts outfit. This is still my favorite project to date. I ALSO have made:

Another skirt for myself. You may be wondering if I own enough skirts at this point? The answer is, maybe. I wear skirts all the time and I love having new ones to add to the pile so I don't think I have too many just yet.

Patriotic sailor shorts! The 4th of July is just around the corner and I wanted something fun and festive here's what I got! I admit, I kind of wish it was a skirt.

A fun twirly-dress for Avery. I found this tutorial through my friend Gina. I've never used an -online tutorial but when I saw this I just had to try it. It not only helped me use up some scraps, but I used some newer fabrics that I had another project in mind for, but was not excited about. This fixed that.

Half way through I was over come with the thought that I was caught up in the idea of the dress so much that I may have missed that fact that it is not so much cute as it is tacky. I was almost afraid to finish it. Almost. I had already put in so much time and energy that I had to finish it. I'm glad I did. Avery will be wearing to to church this very day.

Dreams

Some of you who know me well know that I have really vivid and weird dreams. Whatever I may be stressed about that day, thinking about as I go to sleep, or whatever places I've lived and people I've met, may show up in my nightly movie reel. That being said, I've been having really odd dreams about China. Not even about China, about moving in general.

In one dream we ended up in New York instead of China but we were making the same amount of money so our living conditions were down right scary. I hated it in about 15 seconds and wanted to move home; which, in this dream, was Washington.

In another dream we show up at the airport only to be detained because out visas are questionable and while our status is under review they confiscate all of our belongings and AVERY! This was a bad one.

Then just last night I dreamed that we had to live with Andrew and Kimi because our apartments were simply "no longer available." The apartment was TINY and Joe and I had to sleep on the floor while Avery was on the couch next to us. Then we had some dinner at Taco Bell. Weird.

Needless to say I think I may have some anxiety over moving around the world.

I thought I was impressive.

I was going to post about how I've been on this awesome sewing spree. Since I last posted I have made a number of items and thought that I was being so good at getting my projects done. (By the way, I have to do three a week if I'm to finish before China.) Then I went to Gina's house. Silly me, thinking I was all speedy and productive. I think that every time I go over there she has a new pile of things she has made. And I go there a lot! Anyway, I'm going to post about all of the stuff I've made in the last week-or-so anyway.

Another pair of shorts for me. Really pretty on the hanger, I know. The best part is that they are made of a different fabric than the others and so they are magically too small. Wonderful.

A skirt for Avery. Had to change plans on the waistband at the last second, but still love the skirt.
A dress! My first one and I love it. Yay, me!
A skirt and embellished t-shirt for Avery. I love that you can take a plain tee and make it fancy with a little scrap of fabric.
My latest, a blouse and denim shorts for Avery. Perhaps my most favorite item for her yet. I made the pattern on the blouse so it is a little roomy, but I know better for next time!

Some things are just better when you're a kid.

Like pudding. Obviously. I never knew chocolate pudding could have so many uses. It is not only a sweet snack, but it can also be used as: a foot mask, lipstick, hair gel, and finger paint. What a useful treat.
