Silly Quizzes

I thought that the quiz I took about "which Jane Austen character are you?" was cute. However, it has now encouraged my husband to seek out other quizzes online to see what Disney Princess I am, what Marvel Superhero, what villain, and so on. The Disney Princess thing was way off, I won't even post it. The superhero may come as no surprise; I was the Incredible Hulk. The villain quiz was my favorite so it is the one that is getting posted. It turns out that I am:

Mystique
Sometimes motherly, sometimes a beautiful companion, but most of the time a deceiving vixen.

I don't know why but this totally cracked me up! Joe thought it was a fitting description and was disappointed when he ended up being Lex Luther. He thinks it only ended up that way because one of the questions asks if you are bald, to which Joe had to answer "yes." He thinks this was the only determining factor for him since he is neither ridiculously wealthy nor vindictive.

It's Official

I am an ASU graduate! Grades were posted today (straight A's again I might add) and I am done for real. I wanted to post a picture of my graduation ceremony, you know, with my cap and gown and all, and found that all of the pictures taken must have been done on my sibling's cameras because I have no photos of the event. Nevertheless, I am finished and can now focus on my job and getting ready for Baby Girl Jackson. If ever I am on ASU campus again it will be, I hope, only by choice. Maybe my animosity for the school will wane now that I don't have to be there so much. I'm guessing that it won't much.

Just in Time

So, as some of you know I have been completing an internship at South Mountain Community College here in Phoenix. The college is a mile from my house and I actually took some classes there a couple of years ago. Wednesday was my last day for my internship. This is great and exciting news for several reasons, not the least of which is that the next day there was a shooting on campus. On Thursday, two of SMCC's students got into a fight and one of them had a gun on him. He proceeded to shoot three people (all of them survived I believe) and then run home. He was caught later when his dad turned him in. SCARY! If it had been one day earlier I would have been 50 yards from where it happened. The worst part of this all is that when I let my family know of the incident half of them implied, asked, or stated, that they thought I did it! My pregnancy hormones are NOT THAT BAD!

GREAT NEWS!

Joe has a new job with the University of Phoenix! He will be an Academic Advisor and starts on the 28th. A couple of great things about this job: it provides a paycheck, it is 1 1/2 miles from home, and it looks like we may be getting insurance on October 1st! For those of you checking your calendars, that is BEFORE my baby is due. Say it together now, "Woo-Hoo!!" Relief is washing over me right now and I am sure that my body is retaining most of it but that is okay! I know that a few people may be sad about this because Joe will no longer have as much time to spend on the new hobbies he has picked up recently (like Diablo II), but I am ecstatic!
These photos crack me up! I tried to show that all three of them are playing in one little room, but I could not fit everyone into the image.

Just for Fun

I found this on my friend Ruth's blog and I thought it was the COOLEST quiz I have ever taken. Elizabeth you will love it!

I am Elinor Dashwood!

Last Tri-mester

So have officially finished my 6th month and I am in my last tri-mester! October will be here before I know it. At least I hope so because this heat is killin' me. We spent such a nice week in Utah over the fourth and since we've been home I swear that I can feel myself retaining water at every sip. My legs are starting to swell, my hands are always sore, and Baby Girl has learned how to do somersaults this week! That last part is actually kind of fun, except when I am trying to sleep. Joe gets this need every now and then to take a picture of me to document my growing belly for prosperity's sake. I was lucky enough this time to get him to wait until I was at least out of my pajamas to take it. Usually he gets the idea in his brain and wants to take the picture right that second. Never mind that I may be cooking or brushing my teeth, he just has trouble holding off for a few minutes for me to even brush my hair. This is the latest pic and I am sure that there will be more in the coming three months. There are several of you that I don't get to see very often so this is what I look like now!

This was taken first thing in the morning, so if you want to know what I look like by the end of the day just add 3 inches to my stomach. Oh, and those are the nursery curtains behind me. Joe and I have been so blessed with good friends and family who have helped us to outfit the nursery, the baby, and even me! I probably did not feel this way as a child, but I have learned that I LOVE hand-me-downs! We are so lucky to live in a ward where people are willing to share what they have with each other and to have parents who still do what they can to take care of us even in our adulthood. Thanks to all of you who have donated to the Jackson Baby Project!

We're Back!

Where should I begin? We stopped in Las Vegas to crash at the ever hospitable Whitings, again. Then we were off to Utah where we stayed with my brother Ben and his wife Melissa for a couple of days, and then my sister Jenn's house. This has become a bit of a tradition for us on the 4th of July. For the last 3 years we go up with Jenn to her in-laws house up in Centerville and we have breakfast in the park, watch a great small town parade, and eat BBQ at Lou and Grethe's. This year a new tradition was added. Jenn's family, and my husband Joe, all ran in the Centerville 4th of July 5K!! I used my pregnancy as an excuse as to why I could not run, only to see a woman even more pregnant than me racing that day. Dumb lady, making all of us other pregnant girls look bad. Anyway, it was awesome. Despite the need to get up at 5 a.m. and the hills that nearly made Joe cry, it was so much fun! Everyone finished the race and then Emily ran the 1/2 mile race for the younger kids. Ethan ran a race too, well, ran then walked then ran then quit then walked then ran a race. FUN FOR EVERYONE!

The parade is always a highlight as it had lots of candy being thrown and a few floats to bring back some old and haunting memories. Anyone recognize the singers in yellow? It was also the only chance I really had to see my brother Dave and his new friend Kristy (she is real, I met her). Nathan always is fun to sit next to since he has such long arms and can catch all of the fly-by treats! The parade this year was a little disappointing, but there were a few floats that made us say "WOW!" I'm so sad that I didn't take a picture of my favorite part, the bagpipers in kilts! I was so wrapped up in watching that I forgot to take a photo. Oh well, you can imagine it.

The BBQ was delicious as usual and the nap I got was even better! Even with a nap, the day had left me so tired out that I was sick and had to go to bed before I saw fireworks. I don't know where we will be next year at this time, but I hope it involves pancake breakfasts in the park and lots of family. Thanks to my wonderful sister Jenn and her willingness to always let us crash at her place and let us tag a long on her great family traditions! I realize now that I have posted these pictures that I was so busy taking them I never got in one!
Special Notes:
We love Hand and Foot so much we taught it to Ben, Melissa, Jenn, and Kelly
Nathan, next time Joe will beat you in Tiger Woods Golf

Out of Town

I have not posted in a couple of days and that is because I have not really been at a computer much. Joe and I are in Utah and we will be here until the 6th, so don't expect much to be here until after then. Once I am home I will hopefully have some great 4th of July pics and a highlight or two to share!
